How do we turn conflict into community?

We live in a divided world.

Trump
Gaza
Immigration
Ukraine
Vaccines
Abortion
Guns

Even though, as residents of Dungeness, we have very little influence on some of these topics, many of us feel really strongly about them.

For years I have:
1) Gotten into arguments with people I barely know
2) Stopped talking about important topics with my friends and family
3) Thought of the other side as “stupid,” “crazy,” or “the enemy.”

This election cycle, I’d like to do something different.

I’d like to use our convictions about these important issues to get to build community.

I’m imagining a 2-3 hour event where we go beyond the issues and share what’s important to us.

No convincing.
No teaching.
No judgment.
No right answers.

Just understanding where everybody is coming from, and why we believe what we do.
