The Primacy of Nuance (inspired by Love Israel, Support Palestine by Nir Avishai Cohen)

This is a big week for me.

Seconds ago, I launched the first episode of the paid version of this newsletter, The Future of Conflict. In it, I wrote about a book by Nir Avishai Cohen called Love Israel, Support Palestine.

My friend (and Rabbi) Micah Lapidus (yes, yes, of Lapidus and Myles fame) sent me an editorial by Nir sixteen months ago, on October 13th, 2023.

Nir’s editorial was titled: I’m Going to War for Israel. Palestinians Are Not My Enemy. (full text here)

For me, Nir’s book is an argument for The Primacy of Nuance: why it’s so important, where it can take us, and where we’ll never to get without it.

To be clear, he never uses the word “nuance” in the book — that’s all me.

If you want to see my full take on it (come on, I know you do!), it will now cost you less than a cup of coffee in much of the developed world. (I think? Not a coffee drinker unless I’m visiting Dublin)

If you want to peruse the parts of the book I found most powerful and notable, with the tiniest bits of context, I posted them a few days ago.
